The indispensable role of the Hispanic community in Texas

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Scott reflects on the importance of the Hispanic community in our home state of Texas.

Texas owes much of our cultural richness and economic vigor to our Hispanic community.

Hispanics play an integral role in shaping Texas's identity, contributing to our cultural, economic and political landscape in profound ways.

Economically, with a population now over 40% of Texas's total, the Hispanic community drives significant economic activity. From agriculture in the Rio Grande Valley to the tech industries in cities like Austin and Houston, Hispanics continue to drive Texas forward. Additionally, Hispanic entrepreneurship contributes to job creation, innovation, and economic resilience and the community's spending power supports local businesses and further stimulates Texas's economy.

Hispanic culture is also characterized by a plethora of positive aspects like family values and hard work.  Their strong family bonds protect families from adversity and help them thrive. At the same time, hard work, optimism and respect are core values in their culture, which helps care for family and create a better future. Religious beliefs are deeply rooted as well.

As Texas continues to evolve, the Hispanic community's role remains pivotal. Not only do they contribute to the state's cultural mosaic, making Texas a unique blend of traditions, but they also drive economic growth and innovation, and positive change.
